1 1/2-pound regular ground beef (80/20)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
4 hamburger buns, toasted
8 slices Gruyère cheese

To Prepare Maple Dijonnaise
In a small bowl, stir together all ingredients until smooth. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.
To Assemble Autumn Harvest Burger:
1. Preheat a grill, grill pan, or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
2. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions, about 6 ounces each. Gently shape each portion into a patty slightly larger than the bun, making a small indentation in the center with your thumb to help prevent shrinking.
3. Season both sides with salt and pepper. Cook the burgers for 4 to 5 minutes on the first side.
4. Flip and cook for another 3 to 4 minutes, or until the burgers reach your preferred doneness.
5. During the last minute of cooking, top each burger with 2 slices of Gruyère cheese and allow it to melt. Transfer to a plate and let rest for 2 to 3 minutes.
