Combine fresh strawberries and blueberries. Place in a bowl.
Cut a hole into the Texas toast by pressing in a 4-inch round pastry or cookie cutter into the center of the bread. Save the bread round. (If pastry or cookie cutter is unavailable, use a stainless steel measuring cup.)
Place 1 tablespoon melted butter onto a preheated 350˚F griddle. Place Texas toast and bread round on griddle.
Break egg into the cut-out center of Texas toast. Grill and cook for 2 to 2½ minutes or until egg is set and the bread is toasted.
Flip the egg in a nest and the bread round over. Sprinkle with black pepper. Grill 2 to 2½ minutes longer or until egg white and yolk are firm and bread is toasted.
Place egg nest on plate with the toasted bread round. Serve with ½ cup of fresh berries.
